Where Your Journey Can Become a Keepsake Journal
I'll guide you through the process of drawing out your memories, adventures, ideas & wisdom. Then, I'll weave them all into a completely unique, fully designed, keepsake journal that your loved ones & friends can forever cherish.
HOW DOES IT WORK?
Sometimes referred to as a Legacy Journal, these journals are perfect-bound, hard- or soft-cover, 8.5 x 11 books that hold 24-60 full-color pages filled with personalized content such as questions and answers, memories, wisdom, quotes and images.
These journals take gift-giving to a whole new level as they capture life's most important thoughts and times in a format that can be treasured and even passed down to future generations. No greeting card, random present or digital anything can compare to receiving a custom, tangible keepsake journal.
The entire process will take about two months to complete (one month to create, one month to print). Here is the basic breakdown of that timeframe:
Week 1 - Getting Started
- Once you officially sign on to create a journal ($50), we will meet online or over the phone (your preference) to discuss which type of journal you'd like to create - BIOGRAPHICAL, SITUATIONAL, LATE LIFE or FULLY CUSTOM. See description of each, below.
- I'll email you the questions so you can prepare for our interview or, if you choose to complete the answers on your own, you'll use that document to do so.
Week 2 - Interview & Photo Submission
- I'll interview you in-person or online at a time that works for both of us. I'll record and transcribe our session for use in your journal.
- You'll get access to a private online folder in which you can easily add digital photos for inclusion in your journal. We can accomplish this via email too, if preferred.
- We'll choose your cover art and additional memes, quotes, etc. from the selection available HERE.
Weeks 3-4 - Transcribe, Design & Edit
- With everything we've prepared, I'll craft your journal and bring it to a "final draft" state.
- You'll have time to comment, edit and approve the final draft.
- Once we agree your journal is complete, you'll pay for the package you previously selected and then I'll place your print order.
Weeks 4-8 - PRINT & DELIVERY
BIOGRAPHICAL
A deep dive into the details of one or more aspects of an individual's life. This could be as simple as a series of questions & answers that give some insight into one's memories and thoughts or could be a more thorough description of their lifetime as a whole.
SITUATIONAL
This type of journal can be used to remember a certain time like a great vacation, an impactful season, a year worth remembering, or an accomplishment to be celebrated.
LATE LIFE
This type of journal will usually be a gift to the next generation filled with meaningful memories and the wisdom that can only come through time and the experience of the many beautiful and difficult aspects of life.
CUSTOM
If none of the other journal types seems like a good fit, we can work together to forge a new path and create a unique journal based on your needs. Just let me know your thoughts and ideas.
You can certainly do that but, while there are blank and Q&A-style journals out there, our Designed Word Journals offer a much elevated experience and outcome.
The process of creating your journal is likely to turn out best when created as a collaboration - your memories, thoughts, advice and more, combined with my professional interview, design, layout and editing skills.
Also, your journal will be a true keepsake as it will be printed on high-quality material and multiple copies can be ordered one at a time or in batches of any quantity you'd like. (Additional copies are $35 each plus tax and shipping.)
When you decide to begin the process, it's $50 for set-up, custom question selection and other basic "getting started" tasks to be completed on my end during the first week.
